Not all beef is the same, and not all cows are built for the job. At Round 2 Cattle Company, we raise Hereford cattle because they consistently produce damn good beef—plain and simple. If you’re wondering what makes them special, pull up a chair.
Herefords: The Beef You Want, Without the Nonsense
Herefords have been around since the 1700s, and there’s a reason they’re still kicking. They’re hardy, low-maintenance, and excellent at converting grass into tender, flavorful beef. Basically, they do their job without a lot of fuss—kind of like a good NCO.
Marbling That Matters
You want a steak that’s juicy, flavorful, and tender, right? That comes down to marbling, those fine streaks of fat that melt into the meat as it cooks. Herefords naturally develop just the right amount of marbling, which means you get beef that’s rich and buttery without being greasy. That’s a win in my book.
Tough Enough to Handle Any Environment
Herefords don’t need coddling. They thrive in just about any climate and don’t require a bunch of extra feed to stay healthy. That means less input for better output, which keeps our operation running efficiently—and makes sure you get high-quality beef without the premium price tag.
Good-Natured, Low-Stress Cattle = Better Beef
Ever met a mean cow? They exist, and they’re a pain. Fortunately, Herefords are calm and easy to handle, which makes life easier for both us and them. Less stress on the animal means better-tasting beef on your plate.
Why We Stick With Herefords
At Round 2 Cattle Company, we raise damn good beef from damn good cattle. Herefords give us consistently top-tier steaks, roasts, and burgers, and we’re not interested in cutting corners.
